Webinars + Support Groups

Research shows that participating in a support group is one of the most effective ways to stay on track with weight loss and weight maintenance following a bariatric surgery. Additionally, support group networks improve patient compliance with eating and exercise habits, increase weight loss outcomes, and the community atmosphere helps guide patient and family expectations.

Unique to our program and our rural population, we have developed a teleconference and webinar program to support our patient population. Our webinars have an educational component and time allotted to answer questions from participants attending the webinar. For rural and low-income individuals who may not have Internet access, we also offer a teleconference connection so all individuals who choose to participate in education within a support group community can access knowledge and help.

The goal of our webinar series is to improve individual compliance with eating and exercise habits, increase weight loss outcomes, and to provide a support system for weight loss success. We want individuals to be aware of false or misinformation, surgical complications, signs of eating problems, weight regain issues, inadequate exercise, psychological issues and social concerns. We will also focus on healthy eating behaviors for the family, food myths, mindless eating, weight bias, working and family environments, in addition to numerous other topic areas.
